  2. I'm pretty sure he's "missing the point" on this one. This story in Gen. 19 has to be seen in contrast to the previous scene in Gen. 18. The way the men of Sodom wanted to treat the messengers in Gen. 19 (unrighteously) is in stark contrast to the way Abraham treated them then in Gen. 18 (righteously). In Scripture, righteousness is almost always equated with JUSTICE and unrighteousness is almost always equated with INJUSTICE. When prophets warned Israel of their "unrighteousness", they were saying God would judge Israel because of their unjust and violent ways. They would be exiled for not holding to the commands to treat their fellow human beings, especially "foreigners" and "immigrants" (i.e. visitors & messengers), with the dignity and hospitality that all human beings deserve. So when we contrast how Abraham respected and honored the messengers with how the men of Sodom disrespected and dishonored the messengers, we can clearly see that this story is not about homosexuality. As a matter of fact, the sexual language in these passages are hyperbolic to represent peoples' wickedness and idolatry that caused them to treat their fellow human beings, who were created in the image of God just as they were, with such cruelty! It takes more work to dig into the ancient historical and theological context of these stories, but doing so will help us see ALL or our fellow human beings, gay or straight, through the eyes of God. That is with a love that compels us to treat EVERYONE with dignity and respect!

  3. So, the lust, rape, and incest are all okay God only destroyed it to get rid of all the homosexuals. You must wear horse blinders sir, because you have absolute tunnel vision. The men never said, "so we can have sex with them." The actual scripture in Hebrew says “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them.” Yada is the actual word and although can be interpreted as "sex" it is most often used to also mean "question/interrogate" or "To know" Which tells me Lot knew they were in fact angels because the whole city had no Idea what these "men" were and wanted to question them out of fear or hostility.

  4. If the whole point of S&G was anti-homosexuality, how pathetically lame. How shallow and hollow. I'll tell you what I think though there is no reason anyone steeped in theology should believe anything that I think about this.
    The point is that there is a limit to redemption. Human behavior can go beyond the pale, can be so Hamas like that there is only one solution. Complete obliteration. I take the story to mean that the populations of those towns had become in behavior and thought, pathological and worthy of destruction.
    Being a life long atheist I'm more than well prepared to interpret the Bible as being filled with foolishness, in spite of the valiant and brilliant analysis by Jordan Peterson.
    But really people, if this story is about being anti gay, if it isn't about evil, about the limits to the pathology of thought and behavior that can be tolerated, that there is a limit to the ability of redemption to redeem, then it isn't worth knowing.

  7. Big Gloss-Over at 1:29 mark. "available women that were offered to them that Lot offers" were Lot's DAUGHTERS! Intentional gloss-over obvious to anyone HALFWAY familiar with the scriptures. Without disputing that it would be "a sin" to rape strangers who come into town rather than offer hospitality, are we to believe that Lot's approach to his daughters, treating them as "property" to be offered to the worst men in the neighborhood for rape, is NOT a sin? Incredible. Mind-boggling. Sad.

  8. Men, YOUNG and OLD went to Lot's house to have their way with the "NEW VISITORS-Angels". GOD gave people free choice but they took advantage of their free choice and had the means to commit unnatural and sexual forcefulness with strangers. There's a huge profobility that this was happening all the time for why Lot wanted to protect them. Do to the increasing corruption of everyone there GOD pretty much made Sodom and Gomorrah the "Example" of what will happen to you if continue to forsake him and do the work of the devil. You will be with the one you worship, so choose wisely 😂

  9. This is what I believe. I believe that the citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah were so sinful and that there conscious was so desensitized, that God had to destroy them since it was impossible to save them.

    To say the city was destroy due to homosexuality is like saying a forest is a tree. You've understated the crimes of Sodom to a radical degree to a point where you aren't really capturing the wickedness of the Sodomites. If the only crime of the Sodomites was widespread homosexuality, then God wouldn't have wiped the Sodomites out. God wiped the sodomites out because their very essence had become warped, perverted, wicked, and evil.

    To give you an idea of how evil the average sodomite was, we can turn toward the part of the story where that gang of men attempted to rape the angel who had a pre-pubescent look to him. This story tells me that the average sodomite was so wicked, that they had absolutely no problem raping, molesting, and having sex with a child. If I was God, I'd wipe these people out too.

I doubt that and you said that your goal is not to bash anybody but saying that sodom & gomorrah's sin was homosexuality is in a way doing what you said that wasn't your goal i also doubt many priests will be in this heaven after doing awful things to children ( alter boys) so stop spouting these fabricated half truths damning all who listen

  14. Such a silly answer in my opinion,. one that totally ignores the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
    God told you why he destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah just like the days of Noah, because of unbelief.
    Had those cities believed in the Lord like Nineveh, God would have spared those cities and they would
    have remained unto this day. John #:18 John 3:36

  22. The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah Is an invented fable; it is used to denigrate homosexuality. Not a word of the biblical fable is true. Christians dishonestly subverted the tale to serve their anti-gay prejudices.

    "The Dead Sea was devastated by an earthquake between 2100 and 1900 BCE. This might have unleashed showers of steaming tar. It is possible that the towns were destroyed by an earthquake, especially as they lay along a major fault such as the Jordan Rift Valley; however, there are no known contemporary accounts of seismic activity that corroborate this theory, and this and the suggestion that they were destroyed by a volcano have been deemed unlikely.

    Researchers in 2017 introduced a paper that proposed that the city of Tall el-Hammam, the destruction of which has been proposed via airburst explosion, may be the city of Sodom."

    Someone may want to ask: What sin did the babies and infant of the cities commit? Is this god a cruel and vengeful psychopath?

  27. What about the wicked angels (followers of Satan) who came to earth, saw the desireable women and had sex with them? The women became pregnant by these angels and bore monterious males, who eventually didnt live long.

  28. …. the reason Lot gave his virgin daughters up for grabs to these "gay men", was to show, the reader, that lot was making a distinction that these "men" were never going to be interested in his daughters regardless of them being virgins…to give the reader much more insight as to what their "sin" actually was, which was homosexuality…and still is today, As nothing is new under the sun…And if they dont repent, turn from their sins and call upon the Name ofJesus and accept Him into their lives, Oh dear…
