Is Communism Moral?
Capitalism has produced freedom and crushed poverty. Communism has produced poverty and crushed freedom. So why is there still a debate as to which system is more moral? Dennis Prager explains.

Motives are much less important than behavior. We all know this: If someone has good intentions, but treats people badly, those good intentions mean nothing.
As it is with individuals, so it is with governments. Capitalism might sound less noble than communism—the individual pursues success to the best of his abilities (that’s capitalism) versus everyone shares everything equally (that’s communism). But it is capitalism that has produced freedom and it alone has lifted millions from poverty while communism has kept millions impoverished and without exception crushed freedom.
Capitalism for all its imperfections enables a decent society. Communism, whatever its stated intentions, leads to evil. Yet, increasingly, people either ignore or deny the evil of this ideology, which, within a period of only 60 years, created modern totalitarianism and deprived more people of human rights, and tortured and killed more people than any ideology in history.
How can we explain this? There are two ways.
One is ignorance: People just don’t know the truth about communism.
The second is willful blindness: People know the truth, but choose to ignore it because the truth about communism’s horrors is too painful to confront.
Given the sad state of our educational system, we can assume most people fall into the first category. They just don’t know. So let me offer some facts.
But before I do, I need to address another question: Why is it important that everyone know what communism did?
Here are three reasons:
First, we have a moral obligation to the victims of communism not to forget them. Just as Americans have a moral obligation to remember the victims of slavery, we have the same obligation to the billion victims of communism, especially the hundred million who were murdered.
Second, the best way to prevent an evil from reoccurring is to confront it in all its horror. The fact that many people today, especially young people, mention communism as a viable option for modern society, proves they don’t know communism’s moral record. Therefore, they do not properly fear communism — which means this evil could happen again.
And why could it happen again? That brings us to reason number three. The leaders of communist regimes and the vast number of people who helped those leaders torture, enslave, and murder were nearly all normal people. Of course, some were psychopaths; but most were not, which means that any society — including free ones — can devolve into communism or some analogous evil.
Now some facts: Based on the authoritative Black Book of Communism, written by six French scholars and published in the United States by Harvard University Press, here are the numbers of people murdered by communist regimes—not soldiers; ordinary civilians.
Vietnam: 1 million. Eastern Europe: 1 million. Ethiopia: 1.5 million. North Korea: 2 million. Cambodia: 2 million. The Soviet Union: 20 million. China: 65 million.
And the numbers are conservative.
And, of course, these numbers do not describe the suffering endured by hundreds of millions of people who were not murdered: the systematic stripping people of their right to speak freely, to worship freely, to start a business, or even to travel without party permission; no non-communist judiciary or media; the poverty of nearly all communist countries; the imprisonment of vast numbers of people; and, of course, the trauma suffered by the hundreds of millions of friends and relatives of the murdered and imprisoned.
These numbers don’t tell you about the frozen millions in the vast Soviet Siberian prison camp system known as the Gulag Archipelago, or the Vietnamese communists’ routine practice of burying peasants alive to terrorize other peasants into supporting the communists, or Mao Zedong’s regular use of hideous tortures to punish opponents and intimidate peasants.

Ofc its moral, if anyone can proove me wrong ill eat a hat or something, cause communism is moral. That is just common sense.
It's the content that counts, not the result that privileged dilettantes have made of it.
Look at the Bible and what spoiled rascals have constructed from its contents – a religion of infallibility and mass murder.
When did the US abolished slavery? The Land of "I'll take your Freedom", the home of genocide, torture and rape killed more people than any other state!
Is Capitalism moral. What did Jesus say about the eye of camel? How much did he charge for the loaves and fishes? How did he distribute them? What are we to do with: the poor? sick? Imprisoned? How much was the "Good Samaritan" paid? A $10,000,000 an annual salary paid to a railroad CEO whose train poisons an entire town because nothing was spent on updated safety equipment. Is Capitalism moral?
I don’t know if the numbers presented here are exaggerated or not, but Communism certainly ISN’T a viable alternative to anything. No communist country has provided sustainable prosperity to its people, and even less it has provided freedom. Human migrations never lie, so the number of people fleeing from North Korea, Nicaragua, Venezuela and Cuba speaks for itself. Leftists often argue that “Communism has never been implemented for real”, but that’s false. Real Communism is what we have repeatedly seen failing so far. It always leads to the state becoming the ruler of the private lives of its citizens, impoverishing and slavering them. Also, being a forced system, Communism doesn’t sustain itself naturally, it parasites other countries and always ends up collapsing. Leftists also argue that in capitalism there’s this and that problem, but the evil of Communism surpasses anything people living in democracy can ever imagine. Do believe me, Communism isn’t the solution to anything. I know well, I come from Cuba. Have a nice day!
And tomorrow we will talk about the benefits of fascism with Mussolini.
Someone read the black book of communism and managed to summarize it even worse and put it in a short 5 minute video, great success
This comment section is amazing
Who here is watching this as a communist to laugh at it?
👇
“ Communism has kept millions impoverished” the Soviet Union and China being some of the fastest industrialized nations ever intensifies
Communism = no food
That is why Ukraine needs our help 🇺🇦❤️ stop Russia, where communism was born
Not at all. Communism is a disease
Stealing is immoral.
It's terrifying how many people in the comments are advocating for communism. There is no room for communism in the United States. Anyone who advocates for communism is a criminal of the highest order.
Communism is evil, and most leftists, democrats, etc. don't realize they are communist.
if everyone was equally talented and hard working, everything would be exactly as it is now.
capitalism can only function if it excludes and rarefies, there is by definition few at the top and many at the bottom, regardless of ability.
communism is the only system that can fulfill human potential.
@elmaxo "Disproven" my f-ing A**! Nice try, clown! 🤡
I'm not a communist, but PragerU has little idea what they're talking about. They make fearmongering claims, but doesn't refute the actual points of the actual ideology
Is communism moral
You spout these idiotic aphorisms with no explanation. "Communism crushes freedom." How? What's so "freeing" about putting crippling embargos on Cuba for 70 years? You can't blame communism for Cuban conditions when we've been waging war on them for generations.
Dennis Prager will waddle away in terror as Red Guards close in to mete out punishment for this awful video.
2:12 so communism = fire breathing dragon? HELL YEAH!!
This is so BAD I'm laughing about it. It's really targeting the socialist countries and getting to the US. Torture people? The CIA has a manual for this and teaches the dictators around the world to use it against his citizens. Which brings us to the second lie – authoritarianism. The US has helped to install dictatorships in ALL South American countries, Central American countries, Africa and the Middle East, including helping organizations like AL QAEDA HAAHAHAAH. This is literally a JOKE. The US has helped to impoverish more countries in the world than any other such in history, I can say some as Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Cambodia, Laos, Somalia and the list goes on. The US supports the Saudi Arabian monarchy to this day, which really does not respect ANY human rights. The US has dropped more bombs on Laos than had people living in the country. Is this the freedom and morals of capitalism? And I don't forget that in the US there are thousands living in cars, on the street, or dying because they don't have money to live well or have adequate healthy treatments. Is this the moral of capitalism? This video probably guesses that everyone here is DUMB!
"Capitalism has produced freedom and crushed poverty. Communism has produced poverty and crushed freedom." Bruh, it's the other way around…
Personally, I cannot support the most pathetic argument about socialism or Communism by the likes of Dennis Prager and his right-wing nutjob ilk and why on such an issue. After all, it was because the numbers of deaths under such a supposed system has been EXAGGERATED and I will NEVER read any book that is only negatively critical of socialism or Communism anyway! I NEVER read or heard anything from the socialist or Communist philosophers about the need for a police state-type society under such a system or that there would be no economic prosperity such as poverty either. So screw all conservative fools for spreading their brand of absolute propaganda about socialism or Communism. Besides, I blame the biggest joke in the 20th Century called the Cold War for having made it happen also as well!
Are the Proud Boys moral?
I loved when he defined his terms
Of course the greedy jew is gonna say no
Who do you think is falling for your transparently nonsensical propaganda? Nearly everything said in this video is misleading, projection, or outright blatantly false.
No
those reigns lived communism the wrong way.
First you have to confess, that commnism was founded for your sins.
Then you have to enter a personal relationship with communism.
Communism is Satan's kingdom in reality. It denies Man as 'Imago Dei' the divine reflection and creation of man in the image of God. With that concept destroyed and ignored by communism. It leads back to the question is Commmunism moral? Nope Never was
This is the best comedy video ever! 🤡
Sounds like my professors at uni. Those ones that have no touch with reality, only paid to regurgitate economic dogmas.
The more preggers preach, the more people reach out to socialism.
there is no better reason to be for something than pragerU being against it
Nazism is a left wing ideology.
Wait, Dennis is telling me communism is when FIRE BREATHING DRAGON? I’m sold.
This channel should be renamed to PropagandaU.
the USA is bad and captalism kills millions every year and communism is goods well
capitalism kills 20 million people a year and at least 300 mil. since 1500 individually
Short answer: no
Communism was created by Germany in cahoots with the Czar of Russia, to crush the peasant uprising in Russia against the Czar's oppressive regime and incessant wars. Britain, France and Germany are the creators of this evil; and communist regimes in Russian and China have created tremendous wealth for these crooks. The only opposition to the evil in the West, is the Gospel of Christ.
