Setting in Biblical Narrative
Every story has to take place somewhere, and very often locations have a special meaning or significance evoked by events that already took place there. In this video, we explore how biblical authors use settings in the narrative to meet the reader’s expectations or mess with them. Paying attention to locations and time in biblical stories unlocks deeper layers of meaning.

I didn't like at all that
you said Gedian had 30k people , they were 32 k
You said Abraham had a women for sex.
That is not the language of the Bible which was inspired by the Holy Spirit
I am wondering ,
Why would you do that?!!!!
Why you're not accurate
Do you think you're the only one who reads the bible?
Not everyone who thinks he reads the bible, is honestly tell the truth as its in the bible.
The question remain why would you do that ?!!!
I can't trust you anymore in all your videos. Now I will warn people about you and your project.
😢😢😢😢
Only commentary is that Egypt is in Africa. Not the Middle East 😅.
“Egypt big AFRICAN Empire on the Nile.”
Learning a lot through these videos all the same ❤

The Bible is awesome
Lovely video, appreciate the effort that has gone into making it. very informative in order to understand setting.
Pls take note : At 2.44… it says He married the king of Egypt's daughter… needs to be corrected to.. daughter of Egypt's king.
Thank you!
Awesome video series, just one thing, Egypt is in Africa not the Middle East.
Impressive!!!
I am using these videos to help my autistic son understand the Bible better. Thank you for this helpful tool.
What I don't understand is what do you mean exactly by narrative devices by the biblical authors.
Because if it is the narration of actual events then there is not much up to the human authors: they are either faithful to the events or not.
And if the narration isn't describing actual events then what is the proof of the claims of the story? It shall always be the other way around: "come with me and see". See what God is doing and consequently believe and trust His claims and promises. "Which we have seen with our eyes (…) this we proclaim concerning the Word of life."
Or is your point that God is the actual author behind all the human authors of the Bible?
Brilliant, only too fast for my brain😁🥴🤔.
I have to rewatch several times, to grasp (almost) all of its message. Tysm guyz! Brilliant work! God bless!❤
so i kinda confuse, so does this mean that the bible when they said egypt is not literally egypt like the location? is it more like a metaphor of where all troubles were…that means it’s fictional?
I just need to write to your channel how deeply and sincerely I appreciate the way you all narrate and illustrate the Word of God. The way you guys do everything is so beautiful and wonderful. God is given so much glory with this channel. Thank you so much for your dedication to demonstrate God’s Word the way you do and I pray and hope that your studies of God’s Word will grow you all deeper and deeper in relationship with Him. Thank you so much for the knowledge you share. It’s truly so life changing. My heart is so filled with God’s love when I watch these videos. Glory to God in the Highest!
Great video, question do you guys ever think you know everything there is to know about the Bible?
Amen 🙏❤🔥
The authors of the Bible didn’t create these stories, they actually happened! Sometimes I feel like the Bible Project focuses so much on “the author is making a point” that they forget that the authors didn’t design these stories, God did.
These are great videos. I cannot stress enough… you guys are bringing the word to life.
My kids love your work. Thank you.
You've enhanced our understanding.
I love your guyses videos and teachings but the way that you are speaking of biblical stories in this chapter implies that they are mereley stories instead of real historical events Is that intentional?
This series is full of useful information, although, after watching these, I’m left with the feeling that all of it is just a clever fabrication from the minds of men, men using complex literary devices and half-truths or even recording events that didn’t happen just to get a point across. I don’t believe that is the case. If the Bible is a literary masterpiece, it is because God made it so. Let’s give credit where credit is due.
good
Just noted 40 as a test… wow
Wow, I actually knew a lot of these already from some very astute small group leaders (my money's on they watch your content a lot too) but I'm surprised the connection with Egypt escaped me. That is really powerful and makes a lot of situations in the Bible make soooo much more sense now!
Thank you
Good video! Just need to correct the statement that Noah was on the ark for 40 days. It RAINED for 40 days but they were on the ark for about one YEAR.
The brilliance you expose about in your video narratives is exceptional.
God has and is using you to reveal Himself to us more.
Reading the Bible is an adventure. God bless.
Extraordinary videos, I learn so much!
I am reading the Bible plan as one storey that leads to Jesus. It's amazing how the Bible is a master piece! I am enjoying the Journal.
I just started Mathew, and I can see how the author was an old testament Bible Nerd
1:10 Anticent Egypt is was a KINGDOM not a Empire.
God bless you all🙏🏽🤲🏾❤️
Egypt is in Africa. Not middle eastern
God bless you!
The Bible is the most interesting piece of literature in the world, there’s so much to uncover.
I pray to be a faithful berean of the word of God.
I absolutely love your teachings. Thank you🙏

Wow!!
Amazing creative work!

My mind has been blown. Egypt who oppressed Israel became a safe haven for Jesus who would save everyone. Wow.
