Some wonder why tim likes N T wright so much seeing that he denies the creation narrative BY GOD and denies a literal Adam and eve
That’s good
This guy is pro homosexual. And doesnt preach against it
I do get confused when I read the bible.
I can't believe any functional human being
could be conned into believing any of it.
What a pathetic species we are.
his voice is so iconic
Honest question: how does this help Christians to understand why the OT reports God as saying/doing problematic things?
The denomination I grew up in did not teach me to read the Bible to understand it but to confirm the ideas they wanted to promote. This left me with a very shallow and pretty useless faith.
I was challenged to prove some very basic concepts I held dear such as proving Jeaus was the Messiah. I took up the challenge and really read the Bible for the first time. I learned who the Messiah was and what he taught. I kept seeing things he taught or did that I not only didn't do but… no one I knew did.
I began to walk in the same manner as my Messiah and… I was told I was working for my salvation. It has not always been an easy path but I have grown closer and closer to my God, my Messiah, and the spirit that guides me.
The one thing that has stuck with me all these years is that Jesus said he would tell the lawless he didn't know them. I don't suggest keeping the law for salvation as that won't work. However, if you keep the law because you are saved then that is following the Messiah.
The idea that he is expressing literally would keep many Christians from unnecessarily putting themselves against culture(s). Simultaneously, it is obedience to the law of empathy- treat others how you would wish to be treated.
Amazing!!
It comes down to “adopting their mindset” & essentially “speaking their language”. Otherwise you end up talking past each other
Humility and grace❤
Love these guys, straight up tho Tim has an NPR voice
Sounds like you got a treat the Old Testament like it was not Gods word but man’s. Men at that time condoned slavery and treated women unequally. We’ve come along way.
lol he is talking absolute nonsense, for the sake of it. Yet somehow, people are nodding along…
Why not read a better book?
I never thought it like that. That was great I love how you put God word in it. Keep up the great work in Jesus name Amen
Thissssss !!!!! Listen to the speakers and writers to get their point!
This whole time I thought this guy was a young guy😂 (only heard his voice)
Churches have an agenda.
Amen!
Context?! What is he talking about?
I am
Wow about reading it like it’s the words of Yahweh and be obedient 🤷🏼♂️
How can we view the classes without using an app?
That's a great case for accepting the Deuterocanon and maybe even the Book of Enoch.
Oof, had never thought to see the bible in that way
Not a "what can I get from the bible" reading attitude but a "what did they get, what impact did it have, how did it affect them and their history" reading attitude
Seeing the bible not just as God's words but a miracle in and on itself, and its ramifications, for example the ramifications of the existence of the old testament in people's lives in the new testament.
Yeah, I need to put my agenda aside.
feels like this channel has fallen, its a sad day
I love his voice and listening to him explain The Holy Bible.
It's more about God's encyclopedia and agenda, and not mine or theirs. We are encouraged to interpret the scriptures and ask for wisdom to do so as well. 1st Timothy 3, and James chapter 1
