Maybe the church was predestined to put millstones around more people’s necks? Something about scoffers in the last days?
"How can the church address sexuality without being divisive?" You can't; if you're committed to the true Word of God you can not "address" the modern perversion of sexuality without being very divisive. Because the truth is divisive. What did Christ say in Matthew chapter ten? ""Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword."" The gospel is, itself divisive, because it comes to set the captives free, to overthrow the rule of sin in the world. A light burning brightly on a hilltop is divisive because it seeks to drive out the darkness. I love what Professor Butterfield says when she reminds us that we're tying millstones around people's neck when we hide the truth under a bushel because we're too afraid to speak the truth of God's word that has the power to liberate them from the life choices poisoning and destroying them.
