How Do I Share What I Believe? The Relationship Between Low Expectations and Lackluster Evangelism

Have we completely lost our ability to be kind to one another in this social media age? What can we do to restore our relationships and redeem, on conversations? Detective Jimmy Wallace (J. Warner’s son) tackles these questions as part of his Incarnate Investigation Video Series.

The best course of action is to assume nothing. When you assume absolutely nothing and instead just ask questions in order to learn the truth.. you gain a realistic perspective on the situation and on the person.. you perspective is now grounded in reality.

When you believe the best about someone you are setting an expectation in yourself for them to be the best possible version of themselves.. and that isn't realistic and they will fail those expectations 100% of the time. Assuming the best is still presumptuous and presumption is inheritly sinful. When you assume the best about someone you are merely assuming.. your perspective is not grounded in reality but in an imaginatively good idea about them. Good thoughts are not wrong.. but when they are assumptive and presumptuous then truth will always be absent. This opens you up to deception.

If you assume the worst in people all the time then you are going to turn you into a bitter and critical person.. this will only hurt you and you will treat them badly. Assuming and presuming the worst about a person is not a perspective grounded in reality.. since you are assuming and you haven't investigated yet.. you punish them for things they haven't done. This illusionary mindset is grounded in lies from Satan and only the truth can bring you out of that mindset.

So whether you assume good or bad..you're only hurting yourself. Assume nothing and just ask questions. Don't create the future in your mind when the it hasn't happened yet.

Too many times I have operated from the perspective of proving myself wrong and winning an argument rather than respecting the other person and having a discussion. Arrogance sourced from a selfish centre rather than Love sourced from God.

This is such a great video! I really needed to hear this today. You're so right about us being so quick to assume the worst in people. I've been guilty of that for my whole life probably. And that's not a Christ-like attitude to have. I'm def going to be praying about this and asking the Lord for help in this area. Thanks so much for all you do Jimmy! Your dad is awesome too and I'm so excited that I get to see him soon in Augusta GA for this apologetics conference that I'm going to attend. I hope I get to meet him face to face. Please keep up the good work Jimmy! Content like yours and your dad is very needed in todays culture. Have a great day! 🙂

Thank you for this. I have been on Quora recently and have decided to make comments to atheist posters nicely and ask questions. I tell them I am a Christian and do tell them my God isn’t the god they are assuming He is. But if they are thinking, then that’s good. Just a little question might help in some way.

Agreed 👍. Heard someone say that we should present the truth in a loving and compassionate way. Not just shove it down people's throats. 🙂

To jimmy, I enjoy both your videos and your dads. I suggested a idea to him and now to you. You both are trained police. Police receive training on qhen to use force. Example a video your fatjer posted of news guy and protester going tbru police training of situations .they both failed attacker came unarmed they drew and shot ( traing rounds) attacker ducked behind car turned and shot before they did anything. Many untrained people are quick to judge police who react in situatiins but they woukd fail in training scenarios. The bible says to sanctify the Lord In your heart and be ready to give an answer with gentleness and respect.BUT it also says to rebuke those who are not sound in the faith and to correct and there are exampkes of john the baptist. The apostle paul and Jesus saying things that many christians woukd call unloving but Jesus was not wrong when he called the pharisees hypocrytes nir john when he called them brood of vipers nor paul when he said " thou child of the devil" the problem as I see it is some christians latch on to these scriptures and justify there behavior .im not saying john or jesus or paul was wrong nor tgat some times this is what we shoukd fo now . What Im saying is like a cop there are only sometimes when such a thing is called for and the majority is with gentleness and respect and i wish you your dad along with seasoned street evangelists and preachers shoukd collaborate on a book to instruct when to use the sword of the spirit like a cop ( like paul saying thou child of the devil) or jesus calling pharisees hypocrytes. When to use it as a weopen when in defense when to encourage and uplift. When to correct. When and how .wisfom in a multitude of counsilers together to train christian soldiers like cops so tgey use the appropriate force or response as needed.when to talk somone diwn from suicide . When to tackle and cuff someone and in the back of your patrol car to tough love tell them if you keep robbing stores to buy crack you will end up in jail for life or dead come on man wake up your life is valuble you are a child of God dont go down this road. Some people need to be pulled out by the fire the problem is people only say " Nice" things and become a joel osteen who never confronts sin or theu just say things that attack and are abrasive.they need wisdom and traing just like cops.which is why my idea is to you and your dad but the bible says there is wisdom in a multitude of counsil so i suggest street evangelists. Pastors, christian parents skilled at council. Christian counsilers collaberate and make a book that helps train christians to be good soldiers of christ , good ambassadors balanced with the whole counsil of God not favoring 1 part over the other. A oarent who is only nice and never corrects or scolds a child when they do wrong is not loving but neither us one who only ever yells at chldren and never encourages.uplifts.etc

Jimmy Wallace is speaking in another way about what the age-old TRUE definition of "tolerance" is: accepting the other person's freedom and right to EXPRESS A VIEW" without being cut off or immediately canceled by someone else. And then the disagreeing parties may begin to discuss their differences amicably, maintaining their decent relationship with each other. That is the way Jesus wants us fallible humans to behave. St. Paul wrote somewhere, echoing Jesus, "Insofar as it is possible with you, be peaceable with everyone."

I think I'll drop a link to this video anytime I see people being rude "in the name of Jesus." Great video!

In your day to day when you can verify , Christians act one way. When you are on the internet and cannot verify Christians act another way. Why do you assume that it is Christians? Couldn't it be children from the father of lies on the internet? The entire arguement seems to be a strawman.
