  14. To me it also shows not letting someone have power over you. Someone taking your shirt but not your coat could be trying to bully and humiliate you, but if you lean into that and give more leaving yourself exposed, you actual also expose them as a bully. While you take your power back by not being humiliated but having no fear to give all you have because your faith in God is greater than fear.

  37. Reminds me of President Trump right now. I pray that he can hold fast to the Lord and continue to give the shirt off his back. Till the country sees that he is the best man for the job. We need Godly leadership. And we all know God’s people aren’t perfect, but God sure can pull the best of ourselves, out of us.

  41. I think I may be missing something with this interpretation. If you could clarify, it'd help a lot.

    If someone takes your shirt, as payment:
    1) Did you owe it to them for a debt you have to them? Jesus calls back to a specific section of Proverbs during the Sermon of the Mount, and one of themes of that section was to do whatever you can to escape debt. Essentially, don't rest until you are out from under your debtor.
    2) If you give them your coat as well, how does that expose their unjust actions? They didn't ask for the coat.

    If you stop paying your mortgage and your house gets repossessed, how would giving them your car as well expose the alleged injustice? How would those conversations go?

    "Why happened? Why are you sitting out in the street tonight?"
    "My house got repossessed"
    "Oh no! Do you have a place to stay? A car to sleep in at least"
    "I gave that to the bank as well"
    "They took your car as well?!?"
    "No, they just repossessed the house. I just gave them my car to send a message. Now everyone will see that I'm without any shelter whatsoever because of them."
    "??? But you had your car. They didn't ask for that. You gave it to them. Isn't that on you?"
