There is little that exposes the moral confusion of the left as much as its identifying the term “colorblind” racist.
Here are simply a few examples:
The University of California releases a list of terms and ideas it thinks about racist. The list includes the term “colorblindness.”.
Psychology Today published a short article by a psychology teacher entitled, “Colorblind Ideology Is a Form of Racism.”.
HuffPost released a piece entitled, “How Colorblindness Is Actually Racist,” in which the author gives 3 examples of declarations whites make that are allegedly racist:.
” I am colorblind.”.
” I see people, not color.”.
” We are all the exact same.”.
The Disney Company advises that its white employees compensate their racism by “challeng [ing] colorblind ideologies and rhetoric” such as … “I do not see color.”.
Even the U.S. Army has gotten into the act. It sent out an email to workers saying that the word colorblind is proof of white supremacy.
I might provide lots of examples of the left’s Orwellian meaning of “colorblind” as “racist.”.
Why Orwellian?
Because ending up being colorblind is precisely what people opposed to bigotry ought to desire.
That is why Martin Luther King’s most popular quote, from his most well-known speech, is “I have a dream that my 4 kids will one day reside in a country where they will not be evaluated by the color of their skin however by the content of their character.”.
The left’s position is that Martin Luther King was wrong..
But it’s the left that’s wrong. The colorblind person is the very meaning of a non-racist individual.
Here’s one obvious proof: The worst racists– protectors of slavery, supporters of Jim Crow laws, the Ku Klux Klan, simply to cite American examples– were the least colorblind people. Color is the something they and all racists see. Specifically due to the fact that they defined individuals by their color, they validated subjugation of blacks.
Colorblind methods one does not think a person’s color remains in any method significant.
Isn’t that the suitable? Should not we specify a person by their heart, mind, personality, and, as Martin Luther King stated, above all, character?
Does anybody check out a mirror and see color? No, they don’t. They see a person. When a white person looks into a mirror does he or she believe, “Look, a white person!” When a black person looks into a mirror, does she or he believe, “Look, a black person!”.
Naturally not. When we look at ourselves, we see John, or Jessica, or Tameka, or Jose. We see ourselves– not color. Why isn’t that how we would want everybody to see us?
The left’s insistence that color is necessary is among the most anti-human and racist doctrines of our time. It was specifically when America was most racist that individuals’s color was considered crucial. Why would we want to return to that time?.
Why is your skin color anymore crucial than your hair color or, for that matter, the color of your shoes?.
Call one essential thing your color informs others about you. You can’t.
Does your color inform us if you’re kind, or smart, or what foods or music you like, or what you do for a living? Does it tell us anything about the most crucial aspect of you– your values?
No. Your color informs us nothing about you.
So, why should anybody not be colorblind? To be colorblind methods one overlooks the least crucial aspect of you. Isn’t that an advantage? And isn’t the opposite position– that your race is necessary– racist?
Those who revere the Bible needs to be colorblind. The only thing the Bible informs us about Adam is that he was created in God’s image. If the Bible positioned any significance on race, wouldn’t it have informed us Adam’s color? And does God have a color?
