Socialism versus the Family
Socialism is a distortion, in a collectivist direction, of people’ natural requirement for familial connection with others. However socialism and the family are incompatible. The family needs self-reliance from governmental disturbance in order to grow, and parents understand its requirements better than federal government officials can. Meanwhile, the breakdown of the traditional household causes greater requirement for state assistance. The values of self-gratification that deteriorates dedication to the household likewise causes increased desire for services from the state. For this reason it is no mishap that, historically, advocacy of socialism has actually always tended to go hand in hand with hostility to the traditional household structure. Anybody opposed to socialism needs to protect the traditional household and anybody concerned to protect the conventional household needs to oppose socialism.
