When I was a kid, I’m constantly informing my daughters stories from. By comparison, the world of my youth was rougher and meaner than the world that kids grow up in today.

Here’s my concern: Did this rougher and meaner world much better prepare me to be a well-adjusted, delighted adult? I state yes.

You could say we were less delicate about a lot of things when I was a kid. I mean, just look at the commercials we viewed. We had The Frito Bandito, the cartoon spokesperson for Fritos. He was a 3 and a half foot tall Mexican thief! Can you imagine pitching that at an advertising agency today?

” OK … The Frito Bandito? Alright Phil, you don’t work here any longer. Yeah, you got ta go clear out your desk today.”

Hawaiian Punch? Every commercial was the exact same. We all thought that was funny.

Kids had to be tougher then, too. “Sticks and stones might break my bones but names will never harm me.”
