In this Prager University course, I want to focus not on the evidence for God’s existence, nevertheless on the benefits of belief.
If God exists, then the world didn’t simply progress by opportunity, nevertheless by purposeful style. There’s an Artist behind this incredible artwork– this beautiful and huge world.
If God exists, we’re living in an excellent story, an excellent like “The Lord of the Rings,” with real heroes and brave jobs. Ultimately, all the twists and turns of this remarkable narrative will be paid off, whatever will make good sense. It will even have a delighted ending, not always, or perhaps more than likely, in our own life time– even Moses didn’t go into the Promised Land– nevertheless over the grand course of time in an afterlife, which exists as definitely as God exists.
If God exists, the presence of evil, hard as it is to accept, makes sense. God permits it for a factor– specifically, to safeguard our free choice. And God will fix up all injustices in the end. If there is no God, life is one huge crapshoot.
If God does exist, morality is a real, objective function of the world. If there is no God, morality is just the guidelines we make up for this little video game of life we play.
Love is the nature of a long lasting reality if God exists. If there is no God, love is just a short lived experience, no greater than a great deal of chemical and neurological interactions.
If God exists, you are of limitless value. Each of us is as unimportant as a rock on an unidentified world if there is no God.
If God exists, death is dominated because if there is a God there is a truth outside of space and time. If there is no God, there is nothing never-ceasing, and all the excellent ideas in life are destroyed forever.
Can I show with an outright certainty that God exists? I can make the case that annoying proof suggests that he does. No I can’t show that He exists with outright certainty. That’s probably part of His strategy. God intentionally doesn’t supply us absolute evidence so that we’re completely complimentary to select or not to choose to think in Him.
Which method do you desire to go?
Does not your heart at least hope that there is a good God, a transcendent Validator of love and all the greatest human worths? Why would anybody not want that life has some supreme function; that terrific and wicked are real; that there is supreme justice; that our love for others recommends something?
, if you pick to live as if there is a God– even if you are unsure there is a God– you lose nothing and you get whatever
.
