Why Christians Hold Truth in High Regard
In this video, J. Warner Wallace (www.ColdCaseChristianity.com) teaches high school and college students at Summit Worldview Conference in Manitou Springs, CO. What is the nature of truth? What is the difference between objective and subjective truth and why does it matter? J. Warner talks about three lies related to truth and offers a proper definition of truth for his students. Brought tears to my eyes
Amen✝️❤️🙏☝️
When I was in college, I also had a moment where I seriously contemplated being an atheist, but I actually feared becoming atheist because I feared that if I became atheist I would lose myself because Jesus was at the very core of who I was (am), and atheism just never made sense to me.
32:14 33:28 My mind went to the events of October 7, 2023 when these points were brought up.
41:39 This video is 8 years old. Who would've thought even 8 years ago that we would today (2023) be debating whether you could make an objective truth claim about whether a person is male or female.
This post truth society can only lead to collapse. We need to get back to the one who is Truth
Awesomeness ❤
Psalm 119:142 (TLV): Your justice is righteousness forever, and Your Torah is truth.
I love your presentations, but let me just mention the esthetically pleasing backdrop. (The curtain rods need to go higher up, but) Whoever styled the set did good. ✨
So good I thank you for your amazing teaching J Warner Wallace❤
Jim hasn't detected that many include mormons as ' Christians' ..including Joel Olsteen . Glen Beck is accepted as ' Saved' along with Catholics like Prager and many other online Papists.
Thank you, J. Warner Wallace! Thank God for people like you! Also, fun fact, since you mentioned Billy Graham a few times, the reason why me and my family are Christians and saved is because of this man! I live in an asian country, and not everybody then was a Christian(now there are more), and Billy Graham helped my grandfather accept Christ when he was a teenager, despite HEAVY objections from his devout Taoist family. Then my mom was subsequently a Christian, who then converted my Dad who was a Taoist when they were teens who then converted my grandfather(other one😅) before he passed away, do thank God he was saved! Now, we are slowly trying to convert my grandmother(father's). Thank God she is very open to Christianity now, despite being someone who disliked Christianity, being a Taoist, before my grandfather converted. So thanks to men who spread the truth of the gospel of Jesus, me and my family have been saved! Thank God!
Wow… This insight requires a great deal of critical thinking.
The part that strikes me the most, aside from the definition of truth, is about tolerance. When people around me talk about tolerance, they mean that both your and my view are true according to our respective point of view, so let's get along.
But to believe that both viewpoints are true is nonsensical. As James said, it's either both of us are wrong or one of us is. We can't be both correct at the same time.
Whenever I disagree with my peers, especially about God and/or religion, they will call me intolerant. Or they will throw "Oh, that's just your view of truth" et cetera.
Haha… It's quite tricky to share the good news of the Gospel, isn't it?
🤯
These young people enter believing many things and leave college without the belief. Btw. assuming that they are Christians is where the survey breaks down.
Excellent!
"I Know it's evidentially true!" Sooooo good!
That was awesome and FUN!
Excellent job. Objective vs subjective.
God bless you more, sir.
One problem for objective moral truths is, where do these objects exist?
(For Christians, Jesus is the answer, BTW…)
It's happening, because they're brainwashing our youths, and just about all of the education systems now, are transing the kids.
I lived in Torrance, 204th st, for 4.5 years. I hated it. But thanks for your service. GOD bless you
So sad all the Christians who leave Christ without even hearing this.
These days may Christians don't even read the Bible for themselves.
Pray for the Lost
Thank you Jim….I am grateful for people like you that dig deep and study to great extent without giving in to apathy. Your ministry is much appreciated and I dont think I’ve missed seeing you speak in person over the past three years when you are within my 70 mile circle. Hope to meet you and shake hands soon.
It’s to bad that ended without explaining the last truth a little bit more.
I wish Pastor J. Warner Wallace debate Bart Ehrman about the reliability of the gospel, so Bart will renew his faith in God.
Very good video for sharpening critical thinking skills. Ive always considered myself very smart and in my advanced age I can now consider myself very wise, but I definitely learned something from this video.
Any idea why your father is still an atheist?
My best friend went to school to be a pastor. But became an agnostic. So your answer is important to me.
What if one thinks the claim that Jesus Christ is the only way to God is objectively true but they have a deep struggle with the problem of pain? What if they believe but also say to God "help thou mine unbeleif? Is it a shame on them for not sharing the gospel all the time? Very serious question I am struggling with. An answer would be appreciated.
"White is the best color for cars" can be objective as well. I.e. if white cars get in the least accidents because of the visibility factor, they are objectively better in regards to safety.
Actually opinions are just as objective. "I like vanilla icecream" is a claim about yourself, not about icecream. "Hyundai cars are the best" can be specified, either with "in my opinion" or in some respect "second hand prices" that is verifiable.
Just imagine if he named his children George Fiveman, George Sixman, George Sevenman
I am in my 40s, and I enjoy as much as the students here listening to Mr J Warner Wallace's message. You Sir, are a true messenger from God the Almighty. God bless you! 🙏🏼
At the very least, give out a Christian gospel tract.
So one I’ve been hearing a lot is there is objective truth but not objective morality
There are several things I know to be true that can't be tested by science – the spiritual realm being one. Actually, I bet it could be tested by science, but "science" refuses to take it seriously.
Wow! So much depth
There's another detrimental impact of the subtle classification of biblical truths as subjective claims within Christians. And that is that if a person view it as subjective (and thus lower it's impact and foundation), these people would not only be apthaetic as Lawrence mentioned, but they would also be less likely to investigate and think on it. Subjective claims is based on preferences and feelings, and when the bible is treated as such, there is no need to investigate it further.
Only Christians who put Jesus's commands not only as objective truth but also as the prime foundation of life and living, and when all aspects of life builds on this foundation of biblical truth, not only will we test everything by the scriptures (like the Berean) with an eagerness but we keep His commandments in subssive obedience like a servant and we honor our God with reverence and awe. Christians ought to desire God's Word like David, be eager to worship God as David, vigilant and diligent as Paul, submissive and serving, and loving like Christ. Let us ask God for wisdom for He gives generously without find fault and hold on to that wisdom given by God with fear and trembling. He chose to reveal Him selves through the scriptures so thy we not only are saved but we turn back away from our old, sinful, misguided was into the wide gate. But we repent, and change our actions to reflect the walk of Jesus as we go to the narrow path.
Downloaded for future use! Love your vids!
That was so enjoyable that I'm going to watch it again with a notepad !
