The Electoral College Is in Trouble
The Electoral College is under siege by an effort that would radicalize the U.S. political system and marginalize the voices of smaller states.

Unsuccessful policies, you mean. Your argument is totally specious and a front.
You cant nix E.C with the simple plurality, dumbass.
you frame this as if cities and states are monolithic…
This is some serious propaganda bullshit. Go watch some CGP Grey videos about the electoral college, ranked choice/fptp voting, and the napavointerco. Way more informative than this drivel.
Good! We should use the popular vote. It makes no sense to continue using the electoral college today.
We will stay with keep our voting rights in ALL states DimocRATS & BIDENS
The USSR had a popular vote system (only for party members) which lead to farmers starving. Why? Because the cities voted to take the farmersβ crops. As a result, anywhere from 3 to 10 million people died from famine. Anyone caught keeping food from their own fields, for their own families, was executed. While Iβm not saying that the electoral college will prevent that from happening. But, I am saying it makes it more difficult for a few cities to run roughshod over everyone.
A unpopular president with less than 23% of the popular vote could win because of the electoral college. The electoral college is not democracy
That doesn't make sense, we receive over 150 million votes every general election, New York City has a population of only 8 million. Assuming every single person is eligible to vote (which they're not) how would they decide an election? The next largest city is less than half of that of NY's, the math doesn't check out.
Defend and Protect The Electoral College
It's more like a family. If there are 2 parents and 3 kids, they don't let the kids decide where to go for dinner. That's mob rule. If they had a direct vote then the kids would probably just choose McDonalds every time. So the parents get the deciding vote, because people who live in big cities are like children. They need adults to supervise them and tell them what to do.
G-d help us if leftists succeed
Yeah, Im not buying that Natl Popular Vote crap
Would it not take ratification by three-fourths of the states to make that change?
This is a Republic.
If federalism has failed and weβre moving toward a national popular vote, is it time to seriously start considering states leaving the nation? Should Texas secede?
It wouldn't be the United States of America without the electoral college it would be the United States of New York and California and their 48 colonies. The 48 states would lose any representation on the federal level. Any thinking person can see how that would be disastrous
I don't believe there is any way to get an amendment changed even if it was something that a majority of people liked. Changing the Constitution is very difficult for a reason.
Electoral College means we literally don't live in a democracy. The Framers or Founding Fathers while novel in their ideas are still 200 years ago & constitutions get amended to the times. Why is anyone against their vote being counted equally? This all started from the three-fifths rule.
Nobody talks about eliminating the EC until after they lose an election because of it. My parents- both lifelong Republicans- after the 1996 and 2000 elections discussed their desires to end the EC, but ultimately decided against it.
Those 15 states can form their own country and gft.
This sounds like some legislation that california wrote, nevermind that they have 55 electors. If Cali goes red this year I'm gonna laugh my ass off.

How many states would have to agree to a popular vote?
Just say NO.
Can they really do this legally? I think a lawsuit would end it, especially if taken all the way to the supreme court.
