The Prodigal Son: Luke 9-19
Part three explores the central part of Luke’s Gospel. Jesus continues his controversial announcement of good news for the poor during his long road-trip to Jerusalem, which increases conflict with Israel’s religious leaders. This tension provides the setting for the famous parable of the Prodigal Son.

I played this video for my daughters, and slowly but surely I sensed something very important was missing through this depiction of scripture. The message missing is to turn from sin to the one true God, whether you're poor or rich, cast down or full of joy… our only hope is to turn to God through sorrow over our sin against Him. If you read the actual verses of scripture in Luke, the parable of the prodigal son, it states in verse 17 that the son said that he would go to his father and say that he had sinned against heaven and before his father. In verse 21, he does in fact say that to his father… that he is not worthy because he had sinned against heaven and before him. It's very apparent the son had some to a place of true contrition and sorrow over what he had done. This is left out of this video! Not to mention that the purpose for which Jesus came to this earth was to show us WHO GOD IS not to show us how to be good, loving people. We can't be good people apart from a true reconciliation with God, our maker. Then we can do everlasting and good things through Him. Jesus came to show us who the father is and to demonstrate that we needed his sacrificial atoning work on the cross (his death and resurrection) because we can't earn it ourselves. We're not good, but instead people who are broken in need of salvation from our sinful passions. When we realize that, and turn to Jesus, then and only then can we truly see the light and have freedom and joy no matter what our circumstances are.
Amen
Prodigal son ? Strange verbatim ? Christian wouldn’t a better phraseology be repentance, as in owning up to your responsibility & or responsibilities ? ! Why don’t you include yourself Christian ? If you are a Child of God then doesn’t that mean you might relate to purity & & thus holiness ? Then you would have a holy self ? ! Or is there maybe something even more here like your teachers hand me down superstitions and fabled pradells of all kinds ? !
Amen 😊🐑🕊️😁🐑🕊️😇😁😊
PLEASE READ, VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE!!!
Everyone has talked about the prodigal son parable. Saying that Christians represents the son who got his father's largest inheritance, while the prodigal son represents sinners who are being saved.
Although it may be true that some Christians are jealous of saved sinners, or even sinners that are Christians whom God had forgiven and thrown a party for.
Just remember that he was talking to the scribes and Pharisees. "So called Christians" who focus on the laws and shawn everyone, like some Christians today with homosexuality.
There's a 3rd brother Jesus didn't speak off. A brother(Christians) who's (who are true Christians)a true brother who celebrated with his lost brother knowing that no matter how much party fun his lost brother had, he has been faithful to his father and been by his side since childhood. So he knows that he'll not only get all the inheritance, but all the blessings as well.
The 3rd brother will get more amazing blessings in Heaven than the lost brother or the 2nd brother who was jealous of his lost brother.
WHICH BROTHER ARE YOU? NO MATTER WHICH BROTHER YOU ARE. YOU'RE LOVED BY THE FATHER, EVEN THOUGH YOUR REWARDS AND INHERITANCE MAYBE DIFFERENT.
thank You Lord for the mercy and kindness You have shown us! may we show it to others as well!
Are you guys Jewish?
Wow, this is good.

The Prodigal Son!
The perfect example of Christians understanding the point but missing the implications. Yes this demonstrates Gods love for all of us. But we are not God. Rewarding those who return is for God to do. Not me. Because only God knows if they have actually returned or if they’ve just decided to use our empathy to get some more money to go back to partying.
Christ is making me a different person everyday. No matter how much I resist, I have no escape from him now.
Beautiful animation
Amen ❤❤❤
Actually, the older brother was worse than the younger brother, since the older brother was self-righteous and displayed hate for his younger brother. The older brother is just like the Pharisees Jesus rebuked. The fact that Bible Project would paint the older brother as the more "favorable" brother is truly troubling and disturbing.
There's a wonderful ballet based on this story, it isnt the full story, but look for George Balanchines "Prodigal son" the music is by Prekofiev
The annimation is amazing. I escpecially love the Pharasies becoming angry. Awesome stuff 🙂
Damn this story is antisemitic AF
That's dumb
The parable of the prodigal "sons"
Thank you
this one vs. cain and abel
So much has been read into this parable that is not really there.
The younger son never repented. He only came back because he was desperate, not because he ever came to regret the utter disrespect he had shown to his father. There is nothing in the parable that indicates the younger son's character has improved in any way.
The older son is assured he is now the only son with any remaining inheritance. The father loves his younger son and the younger son is safe back at home, but the father makes it clear the younger son will never be trusted again with anything more after squandering what he had.
Additionally, we should not assume the father in the parable is God. Because the father in the parable is a bad father. This father did not do a good job raising his younger irresponsible son and then bankrolled his wanton lifestyle. And the father in the parable never showed his older son love enough that the older son actually felt like a son. This father had, up until this point, treated the older son like an employee.
The father in this parable actually has some regrets himself and pleads with the older son to make amends for how their relationship had ended up this way.
Salvation through Jesus Christ is not for "everybody". Throughout the Bible scripture says GOD predestined the elect before the foundations of the world

Christ was the Messiah, not a prophet. You're teaching blasphemy. This is the 4th video of yours I've been recommended by YouTube, and all of them have some weird tint or subtle blasphemy in your colloquial retelling of the scripture story that's the main topic
