  2. I am an American but I find it obscene to even debate about Taiwan. Taiwan for those that's geographically and ethnically challenged is Chinese and is part of China. They already had plans to reunite in the near future. America needs is mind our own business and take care of our own at home. How much longer do i have to hike through homeless camps to get to work. How about filling-in those pot holes in front of my house. Why do i wait over 2 damn months to see a specialist.
    How would American feel if foreigners want to take Silicon Valley from us. Instead of sour grapes, Americans need to go back to school, build high speed trains, produce our own chips, educate our youth, encourage future engineers, promote peace, etc.

  4. The semiconductor issue is really secondary to China. Clearly observable by the patience China has with Taiwan.
    China has no problem with waiting 20-30 years to integrate Taiwan. More than enough time for every little shithole country to build their own semiconductors.
    On top of that do they and Russia already have their own semiconductor production lines.
    The problem China has is that the US tries to steal Taiwan from them and with Taiwan the US has a real landlock potential on China, because they already have every other country around China's coast. China is pressured for survival and not at all trying to impose anything on anyone.
    All they do is to react to an aggressive US trying to steal historical land from them. And it's not the first time. Hongkong is a similar issue.

  5. Vivek is too simplistic, when you want to make an enemy it is very easy but to be a good diplomat and a friend requires skills. If the US protect its own self interest first then all countries in the world will do. China is not going anywhere with huge population and second biggest GDP in the world and will surpass US. China knows also that US is not going to go anywhere too, so it is trying to work with US. In 2008 China could have just bankrupted US but it chose to help US restore its economy. Who do you think fund the Iraq war, Afghanistan war? It was China by buying trillions of US bonds and T bills. If there was no China who could have given that money to US?

  7. On Taiwan, Vivek's an idiot. China's most basic interest in Taiwan is geopolitical. It's not complex at all. Imagine if Cuba lay along the length of east coast of the US, 100 miles away, allied with China and Russia. How's it feel now?

    Likewise, the best way to defend North America is not at the coast of California, but at the "first island chain", which includes Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines. What's needed is trust building and a peace treaty with China.

  8. On Taiwan, Vivek's an idiot. China won't be allowed to hold the world hostage by taking control of the world's most advanced semiconductors because, one way or another, the equipment will be rendered useless before they get their hands on it. And even if they did get their hands on it, they would be dependent on the Dutch manufacturers of the equipment to maintain the factories in working order. And it's also not certain they'd have the sufficient high level know-how to do that.
    Btw, semiconductor manufacturing requires ample volumes of water. How much does Arizona have to spare?

    However, that might fuel more into the fire as the CCP will use war as an excuse to remain in power. And especially of Taiwan which is an ironic comparison of prosperity between the two economic political model that is so stark to the point that once the mainland chinese sees and understands it by themselves they will began question their own socialist government.

    Seriously, how many wars has US started compared to China and Russia?
    Who is the aggressor and who preached democracy yet wants to control other nations?
    Taiwan is part of China. What gives US the power to decide if Taiwan is owned by China or not?
    How about China or Russia comes over and help Alaska and Hawaii gain independence? And have military bases around US?

I know U.S. has its own consideration but it will be real fairness and goodness for both china, U.S. and the world if U.S. after its relocation of Chips industry or semi-conductor industry from Taiwan to U.S. and all other industrial production from PRC back to U.S., U.S. and the world should help China go on a democratic route. It is a disaster for the whole world to continue to support CCP regime to exist in mainland China. Taiwan is a democratic island and it is detrimental for it to change into a communist government’s governance. U.S. should have the open-minded and confident attitude to allow China to choose a democratic route together with Taiwan. It is the luck of mankind then. Because history told us tragic lessons that communism / socialism is tyranny and it can only bring repeated poverty, evilness, corruption, and repeated massive killings. It can not only poison the Asian environment but also the environment as a whole. It is my opinion. Thank you.

  27. I think the most important point in the whole video conversation is whether U.S. should help Taiwan issue solution. Maybe the reason on why China wants Taiwan answered by Rami is correct, but the conclusion on whether U.S. should involve the Taiwan issue solution is not correct. This is very important. I think Vivek should do more research and be very careful on his opinion of Taiwan this most important political opinion or issue in the current world which can lead to world war or the collapse of Taiwan and U.S.. Thank you if you can verify my opinion. I will appreciate very much for Rami or Tucker to verify and be responsible on Taiwan issue. It can’t afford a careless answer from a professional journalist or politician candidate. Please help me to verify and provide a responsible video again on this important matter!   30. This guy is completely making fraudulent BS claims out of his tiny ignorant head. Chinese wants to unify our people in Mainland and Taiwan simply because we are all Chinese descent. Very much like Eastern Germany and Western Germany. Chinese doesn't care about United States that we are not interested to blackmail USA. However, Chinese are guarded against USA ill-intention and many ignorant people in USA are dreaming and making up stuff that they are being threatened by China but at the same time people in USA are lazy that they don't care to better themselves and just want to bully others. And remember this United Nut Heads, no "A" students become "A" students by bullying others. That is why America and the West keeps lagging behind China.

  32. we will never enter war with a nuclear power. If you read 1984 and understand global power. There is 3 powers and if two go to war it leaves the third to take everything and even two vs one dosent make sense because because it is the end of the world for all. it is literally a defense weapon, a deterrent at best but no one is going to press the end of the world button. All wars with be fought in poorer nations, a sad game of Risk and a constant source of fear mongering and retribution to fulfill a cause in places that do not matter to those that do.
