Why the Design of Noah’s Ark Matters
This session is from the BibleProject Classroom class Noah to Abraham, taught by Dr. Tim Mackie. The entire class is available for free on the BibleProject app at https://classroom-beta.bibleproject.com/noah-to-abraham
In this session, we take a closer look at the design of Noah’s ark. Tim walks us through the ways that the ark’s design calls to mind earlier images of the garden in Eden.

Somehow it lead me to think about Matthew 6:6.. ( h
Go within and shut the door……the measures reminded of the building of the temple a new temple and new Jerusalem as in a new man, born of Spirit.. as our Lord Jesus explained… 3 floorsof the Ark.. from the flesh through the heart( that through faith and love for God becomes the throne of God) into oneness with the heavenly Father
I think that it is very important to point out the first command (imperative) from the Lord God is positive, something humans should do and should want to do. Too often can everybody from Satan to atheists try to convince Christians that the Lord set laws and rules over us to control us into submission. The first command (imperative) being something positive proves that God's commands and rule are to look out for us and give us the best life possible.
Is it possible that along with the manna being placed in the arc of the Covenant maybe as a symbol of all the trees give in the garden for food, are Aaron's almond branch that produced buds which could have symbolized the tree of life and the stone tablets which represent the law may have symbolized the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And of course ultimately our Savior would become the bread while fulfillling the law on a tree to give us life.
There’s probably nothing “wrong” discussing the story of the Ark. There is a problem discussing it as if it were true/factual. It is far more likely that discussions of that story are focused upon a fictional story much like the Harry Potter stories. In either case there is No evidence either one is factual.
Where do i find the continuation of study of the ark? Whats the title of vdo? Is there a part 2?
There was never a global flood and consequently there was never an ark. There is a profound difference between a consoling delusion and the truth.
Iya desain kapal tentuin perjalanan dan panggilan nuh ❤.
He should really read Hymns on Paradise by Saint Ephraim and none of this would be surprising.
Or just visit an Orthodox Church and you’lll see the same structure. By the way the Eucharist is in the Holy of Holies.
So is everything we should read, be read as symbolic?
Please can you state the bible version used? I have looked all over for one that has 'reed' rather than 'rooms' and I can't find it. Your classroom sessions are beyond helpful. Thank you for the impact.
Thank you for the great lesson
Here the word of JEHOVAH. This is what the Sovereign God JEHOVAH says: "Woe to the stupid prophets, who follow their own spirit, when they have seen nothing! O' Israel, your Prophets are like foxes in the ruins
"You don't master the Bible. The Bible masters you. " – my pastor.
This is yet another example. Thanks for doing these.
Which session and module is this video in Bible project classroom Adam to Noah ?
The door of the ark of salvation is open to anyone who accepts it now, in this time of grace, but when it closes no one can open it!
Revelations 3:7, Matthew 24:37-39: Don’t let it be too late!
Tim,
Enjoyed the imagery, symbolism, and word play very much.
However, not a fan of the conclusion you've articulated regarding Eden/Heaven/Earth… You state their specific correlation as absolutely factual. In actuality, that was purely supposition/conjecture on your part, and should be stated as such… especially without any Biblical reference that would support such a bold statement.
I welcome your thoughts…
It is amazing that the description exactly matches the ‘kamidana’ still used in Japan, in all buildings, the roadside shrines, and in festivals, these ‘houses’ are borne in procession through towns.
It’s the Trinity!!!!
Holy of Holies/middle of garden/3rd story is God the Father. God the Father is the Archetypal Father.
The outer room of the tabernacle/Eden/2nd story is God the Son who is the Archetypal Mother.
The Courtyard/Dry Land/Lower Story are Humanity. Humans who haven’t received the Holy Spirit are therefore the Archetypal Child.
The Father is pure Spirit. The Mother is a Mixture of Spirit and Matter. The Child is pure Matter.
The Father is Order. The Child is Chaos. The Mother takes the Spirit from the Father and transmutes it to food for the Child, food which is not so holy that it would just kill the pure chaos.
The Mother is the bridge between Spirit and Matter. That is why Jesus was All God and All Man. Jesus had to be in order to bridge the Gap between material life and the initiator of everything!!!!!
For the algorithm
The remains of the Ark has been found by Ron Wyatt in the mountains of Ararat Turkey. Glory to God for revealing the truth in the Bible in this age of Revelation.
Teva or Arc is not Arabic or Egyptian word ether !! Greeting from Egypt the heart of Arabic world
Thank you
A Zoo barge ?
The general take is correct. words in Hebrew are called TEVA, teva for letters which form words, each teva carries minimum 2 letters words, these are only 231 words. A and B is like B and A, so in fact there are 462 words, 462 = Native = Path, as in 32 paths of wisdom, but since AB is the same path as BA, we get only 231 – paths, RALA Shearim, 231 gates.
So the word TEVA (ark) is a container for words in Hebrew,
Beside
TEVA – tav beit he = 406 = OT = A letter (as in 22 Hebrew letters) so the instruction is to build a container for Letters, Aleph, Beit, Gimel … etc each letter has a name, its own TEVA
Kofer = 300 in gimatria
300 = spirit of Elohim = Ruch 214 Elohim 86 = 300 (also the value of letter Shin – fire- shin 360 is a circle.)
Kinim – is birds’ nests, it is a round shape in Geometry,
Kinim is not rids, Ken is A bird’s nest, it is round, circle or bowl, all of these points to Hebrew Geometry, a hidden vessel of communication.
None of these are materials, it is a linguistic exercise. Tree like the tree of life is a structure of 10 Sephirot,
Deluge in Hebrew Mabool = 78 = the wisdom
The living creatures are letters, it is a living language
If you don’t speak the language you can’t play the game. It’s a scientific logic based on Math, Gimatria Proze and decimal Geometry. Based on 10, Noah is 10th generation to Adam. 10 commandments, 10 plagues, 10 Sephirot, all emphasize the decimal system – many thanks
This is a very interesting study into the subject of Noah's Ark and how it relates to Eden and the Tabernacle. I learnt from this, and I hope we can have more studies like this.
Thanks for making it into a video, just brings another level for a visual learner. Amazing research. Watch you guys in Kyrgyzstan.
The only reason I’m glad I slept on your content is so that y’all could make more
@bibleproject have y’all come across Jim Jordan’s book “Through New Eyes”? It was written decades ago and it was the first book that went into the symbolism of the Eden-Ark-tabernacle for me. Wonder what you think about that book?
I struggle with this. what is the point of the story and all it’s detail.
All that detail about the boat, and we are to believe that (for example) literally a pair of raccoons swam across the Pacific Ocean to make it to the ark, or they wouldn’t exist? Then after the flood, they swam back to wherever they came from, and mated with their own offspring for generations to repopulate their species?? Same thing with Noah and his family… did brothers and sisters have babies with each other for generations and we are to believe they (we) would escape the effects of inbreeding? Doesn’t sound very Godly to me.
Every time I question my faith, I remind myself of all the connections and poetry and beauty and Truth found in the salvation story. You can't make this stuff up!
I don't know what's more bizarre: religion, or the people who (despite having a functional brain) actually believe in these ancient myths…….
Of course the design of Noah's Ark matters. This is the reason why Noah graduated from the MIT.
Does anyone know what Tim is using to prop his Bible up? I'm looking for something small like that… all of the Bible stands I've found are fairly large and lift the book off the table significantly. Just looking for a little something to give it a more comfortable reading angle.
