The Torah Part III: Between Two Pharaohs | 5 Minute Videos | PragerU
Joseph brought the Jews into Egypt, and Moses led them out. But what happened in between? How did God’s chosen people fall from favor under one Pharaoh to slavery under another? Dennis Prager, author of The Rational Bible, unpacks this pivotal section of the Torah.

well wait just a second here. he said that he is the author of a five-volume commentary on the Torah. however, so far, he has written commentaries on only four of the Five Books of Moses. he still needs to write his Torah commentary on the Book of Leviticus
So the Torah advocates for economic planning
Mythological people never existed
Story copy of greek mythology start with chaos titans on
PragurU is amazing!
How you say is people Against the egypt king Terrorizing his people and to submission with fear and plagues God bring to him but a dog is work Todd he did his work adjust watch buy watch. Dot's work killing children of a joke with his? OWN. Bear hands slower him by one including the king Sun?
How do you say him being a pile of shit
The Exodus never happened, the Hebrews were never enslaved (at least not) the way it's described in the story, and Moses never existed. There are no writings about the incidents outside the Bible, and there are no archeological traces in the Sinai-desert where the Hebrews supposedly wandered for 40 years. I mean, why woul the wander for that long on that pennincula? Following the coastline would've taken you to modern day Israel within a week. There are also too much absurdities in the story for it to be taken seriously as real.
Yes.- There are good people in Palestine, as there were in Nazi Germany and the former Soviet Union (Acts 10:35).
This is very good content. Biblical truths never change. God never changes.
😂😂 How much you believe in these shit fairy tales!
Link to part 1 and part 2 please
I am now convinced that Mary's pregnancy was the result of adultery. All religions teach a common element: control.
I enjoy watching PragerU videos and appreciate the Judeo-Christian values they promote. As I watched this video, I kept thinking of a truth mentioned three times in the Bible: “There is none who does good” (Psalm 14:3, 53:1, and Romans 3:12). No matter how good people try to be, they have all sinned (Romans 3:23) and need a Savior. I pray Dennis receives Yeshua as his before it’s too late.
Why do your fundraising calls come from California? The most corrupt state in the USA!!
Why is Moses more important than David?
😁👍
Torah mostly greek mythology COPY
Joseph enslaved the entire nation of Egypt. All the money, all the land, and all productive output beyond what was needed for subsistence. When a new dynasty of pharaohs forgot who Joseph was, they likewise forgot why those abundant Hebrews had been exempted from the general state of slavery every other commoner suffered under. Joseph had been commanded by God to "let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh". They freely gave their grain to Prime Minister Joseph on trust, but had to sell their entire nation and pay eternal tribute to buy it back. Joseph not only enslaved more men than any other man in recorded history, he is both the original historical source of Egyptian slavery and the original source of Biblical slavery. The penalty for Joseph's sin landed on the people of Moses' time
On Moses execution of the Egyptian guard; The Prince of Egypt does depict this, and logically if not accurately, the guard had not responded to the order, and thus was therefore in Egypt's eyes of their law, a traitor frankly in their state's categories.
Think of the Torah's analysis in this way, Dennis: out of how much of the truth you knew was true, how much good did you do, verses how much evil did you do? Even calculating in refusal to do harm; what's being evaluated is the character content of the man in question.
You and I even moreso are far stronger than that lady who adopted Moses; both physically almost certainly and way more importantly in our comprehension of reality itself; but that's to be seen not as a good in and of itself but a demand for us to do better; and to absolutely do no harm, certainly NOT for our own sick delights.
Yes, I do know the mindset of psychopaths, and that which's our deepest terror- a nightmare we cannot escape from, as that trait is within ourselves; but also, as this's the monster within, it can be controlled, or completely eliminated; such a mentality does NOT want relationships, but will use people and the self individual himself in a heartbeat to attain the goals if need be, and discarding anybody at all who proves to be a detriment to that goal; said goal for me is personal integrity; and anybody, God Himself included, who proves to be in any way hampering that will be simply discarded… this's not callousness, though it can easily go into that; but really necessity due to man's broken nature and the dangerous nature of the world, especially to morals!
Since those're only attainable in this life, it follows that the afterlife, bar no area, is really all evil in and of itself, always and forever! Thus the material world's good, and the spiritual world's evil in its basic essence!
Lets be completely candid about the Torah, Dennis; what that document is saying to your group (Jews/Hebrews) is akin to "You idiots know better than to do that nonsense!", understand that, and Leviticus as a code of laws for conduct, and what "conduct unbecoming" really is verses what it is NOT- then you won't go wrong with mission statement*, but other things? sure! The New Testament does have elements of which will fill any believer with absolute dread; especially when we realize that the devil *absolutely believes in Christ as God, to a degree of understanding and belief that any single-nature human cannot imagine, but it is in Hell, only because its chosen actions are evil!
Belief and grace mean NOTHING at all, especially if not backed up with good deeds. Today; Pharaoh's daughter would be classified as an occultist of all things! It is actions, towards especially the least of our neighbors, that matter, really nothing besides; yet Hell's Red Tsar is an absolute believer in God and if anything, a monotheist- but far more sadistic than we would ever want to imagine!
That evil seraphim is kind of like Pizzaro; it is out to abuse mankind as its real sole goal, and a criminal!
And it would absolutely have sated it sadistic desires on her, as well as being far stronger than her at that, and those aliens have a radically different concept for strength than we humans do: to them it means *character contents*; to man it all too often means physical!
Interestingly, if the Hebrews were working that long of shift-hours, other things may've been going on, things explained by the psychology of soldiers: men who will elect to Not run from suffering but to embrace it; to strive towards it… in that way; Egypt's hereditary dictator, by his reliance upon the military, was undermining himself primarily, also the armed forces and industrialists tend to revere different character qualities than the "elites" do, traits way more commonplace in the slave-classes than in the aristocracy… things like industriousness, hard-work over long hours, endurance; a kind of mental toughness that's needed for these labor-classes to survive, and Egypt regularly put slave men in their armed forces as a practice. Not to mention that we've also got R. E. Lee's own letters that show a distinct disgust for the poor white soldiers, even to the point of suggesting in a letter to a CSA Congressman Legislator that they employ black soldiers, as these men showed the willingness to do the dirty-work of a soldier, jobs the poor whites categorically in their stupid arrogance refused to undertake, even if it meant their own survival!
And that was when he was their primary general that he let those details slip, he knew what he was talking about! Plus John C. Calhoun, a man who was decidedly pro-slavery in our own Republic's history, said that the poor whites of the south were lazy beyond belief!
In short, the only one who sides with slavery is the devil and its faction, or will tolerate it ever, as it is universally bad for *everybody*; bar none!
Knowing from records of the type of society Egypt had; the new Pharaoh in Exodus likely had Joseph's story deleted from the records… if so, Dennis, the situation is way more Eastern Bloc that any of us realize!
Well, Egypt did kind of have a pro-immigration policy, even illicitly so in fact: they imported a LOT of people, by force of all things; so by this drastic increase in food production and management thereof, Joseph did his new homeland a real solid favor: the results would be a drastic amount of jobs being done.
Problem is: when you enslave anybody at all; the productivity goes way down, your own people get addicted to the use of unpaid labor, and hence laziness sets in with an addiction to stealing work from the forced laborers- and go figure, even though the work's shoddy at best, basically only producing junk, and they're really kind of peeved off about the situation going on, thus generating rebellions in the first place; no wonder the devil likes to get man addicted to enslaving his fellow man: it creates an extremely toxic mix of abuse, especially domestic abuse, real fast and that never ever goes away!
It really likes to break up families, and especially if that entails sibling robbery, like was almost assuredly the legal case with Moses blood sister as his stepfamily's unpaid maid- good grief that's screwed up every single way imaginable!
Amen !
In Ancient Egypt's mentality, loyalty was far more important than competent leadership; leadership skills are very useful indeed, and Pharaoh in Genesis had become well aware that there was danger incoming, if he prepared well, his country would come out the local superpower, but if he mismanaged the affair: it would collapse; that's basic government work education he'd have received: when you get verified data of *that*, take the proper action immediately- or you bring catastrophe on yourself and your country.
This's why Egypt never really expanded very far: they had elements in their country that disabled that: a far-off governor who was competent, while useful to hold a vital province, also by being placed there, his boss in the capital invited rebellion, especially if said man's ambitious, and to Pharaoh, Joseph himself had another asset: no real local power-base to draw upon!
The argument I'm using on Moses very young youth would be that his mom was told by his stepmom that her primary duty, far more important than anything she herself tells her to do if there's any conflict at all: the son of theirs gets priority over and tasks owed to herself if any conflict at all.
And this's based on the psychologies at play.
Moses family, based solely on where she placed the basket and how she got access to the area, would've either been an unpaid housemaid to his stepmom, or became that really fast; and to Khemet's (Egypt's) guards; being tasked to move a slave-family from one task to another was just plain part of the work they'd be expected to do; they were probably told by their dynasty's lady member to follow the hebrew girl and bring her whole entire family to their new workplace, as their jobs just changed big time, if only to protect the child.
This kind of antics by the Pharaoh in Exodus, or his whole dynasty really, they ought to have known better: that kind of mismanagement can only do harm to the state they're trying to protect from harm: a much more recent event similar is the Holodomor; and the fallout from that really messed up the state that did that, I mean *really*, for they didn't merely steal the work of the most productive members of society: they killed the only ones with the skills: thus grinding the whole country to a halt when the food supply shipments collapsed in the cities!
The real danger to that state was that this'd mean the army would evaporate as a puddle on a hot, dry, sunlight day; and without means to defend itself, that state would completely be overran really fast!
Thus is always the lot of tyrants: self-destruction.
Basically, the Pharaoh was so relieved that he could now take action on the task at hand that he probably burst out laughing about that it finally makes *sense*!
I mean, Pharaoh in those dreams seems to be basically saying "If You want something of me: make it clear or be silent, I cannot make any sense at all of this assignment; I'm not refusing, I haven't any idea at all what You are even asking of me in the first place! How can I obey if I don't even understand the nature of the assignment in question? If You are Who You are said to be, You are not that dumb as to give a man a task without any clarification of the job assignment, or to fail to make clear the instructions!" herein way closer to such men in the 20th Century AD than to that heathen man- but the need for fine-tuning is the vital ingredient involved, and Yahweh, whatever else He is: is NOT dumb at all, certainly not that dumb as to give a man a task without any clear instructions on said task; that's STUPID Management, and well below His competency level!
This kind of a job change is NOT uncommon in Ancient Egypt's legal history; it is remarkably filled with such happenings of a man who arrives as a slave, but via talents and/or needed skills rises to prominence; he himself kind of wound up Pharaoh's prime minister, akin in job task to Il Duce in WW2 Italy, regarding nature of job title, or Tojo to that man's own Pharaoh in Japan; same kind of situation about the job later in the life of the man in question.
Plus, according to the iffy story "Joseph, King of Dreams" Egypt's hereditary dictator had observed that this guy managed to make sense of a message from the divine that had he himself had been completely unable to sleep; and he was NOT anti-god, he didn't know who or what that Being was; but he was NOT opposed to doing the task, he simply couldn't make heads nor tails of the assignment; and the message was letting him know he had to get cracking on the task. Now put yourself in his shoes; the GM of any RPG has let slip to you personally that things're incoming, but for your life, you cannot seem to translate the message- that's Pharaoh's protest; not to the task he's been forewarned about by those dreams: but to understanding the communique he's being given!
That's why he interpreted to keep this man by his side as his primary advisor, and likely his religious advisor at that, given the nature of the situation, and Who pray tell Joseph translated the "radio message from" in the first place; had you been in similar situation; you'd likely do the exact same thing!
Moses himself, until his kinsman came out and called him out on things he was doing in the camp, seemed to have fallen right in with the dysfunctional management style of his adoptive stepfamily, much to his own chagrin!
Thanks. Great video. So much to think about.
never happened
I have tried to share this to Facebook several times on three different pages and have gotten an error message every time. Just a heads up for you. I did send a report to them, but doubt it will do any good.
Update: After waiting ~ an hour, I was able to post it. But I know that sort of thing effects the reach of your videos.
Dennis…I hope you read this. Right now I am part of a group of women with bladder cancer. NO, please…I don't want anything except for you to know that the treatment for this disease is not available bc it is not profitable to make it and there is only ONE company authorized to do so in the USA. Just contemplate this for a moment.
Your Catholic friend and colleague,

As a new believer in Christ reading the bible, the Torah, just demonstrates how even the chosen people of God continually disobeys and fails to follow the commands of Gods. Thank goodness it also demonstrates the faithfullness of God who always comes through with his promises. Even to the point in providing the ultimate sacrifice as a gift to us as prophesized throughout the Torah and realized in the New covenant. God is great!
Even though I’m not the most Christian person in the world, the prince of Egypt and Joseph King of dreams brought me to this video.
