So apparently government is the G word, Gay is the G word and God is the G word.
… but, which God?
Hmm – my Buddhist friends tell me, ‘no. Things do not really exist. What we see is not real because it has no permanent nature.’ They also subscribe to dependent origination which says that cause and effect goes back infinitely.
Jon, you said that whatever is responsible for the origin of our universe must be timeless. Wouldn't that exclude a god because a god has a mind, and the only examples of minds that we have require the passage of time in order to process thoughts, to choose, and to act. And how do you know that an immaterial mind is possible? The only examples of minds that we have are made of material.
Speaking facts !
Yes, indeed, let’s look at the ”bump of stuff” that Christians have to reconcile. To name just a few:
1. Astrophysics, cosmology, and quantum mechanics, at least, do not support the Biblical description of creation.
2. Geology contradicts the possibility of a Noachian flood.
3. Linguistics, anthropology, and archaeology do not support the idea that the diversity of human languages stemmed from a divine scrambling at the Tower of Babel.
4. History and archaeology do not support the existence of an historical Moses, or the captivity in Egypt of some 2 million Hebrews.
5. Archaeology and linguistics do not support the idea of a 6th-century date for the Book of Daniel. Consensus is more like 200 B.C.
6. History does not support the claim that Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John were the authors of the Gospels bearing their names, nor the claim that the Gospels are eyewitness testimony. These names were later appended to these Gospels, and there is simply no eyewitness claim in any of them.
7. History contradicts the claim that Jesus was born both during the reign of Kind Herod and while Quirinius was governor of Syria. King Herod is known to have died 10 years before Quirinius became governor.
Christian theism explains reality by appealing to an even greater mystery…..Yahweh aka god. We explain things in terms of things that we currently understand, not things that are even more of a mystery. And don't worry, I'm sure you will soon have enough saved up for that car. Donations are a better source of income than is working as a paralegal.
Great job as always John. Society assumes they are the gods of themselves now, they decide what's true "to them", no need to question it because they've been indoctrinated from school to learn the universe is an accident so they make their own truth. God bless!
If miracles have occurred, the possibility of a God exists. They have occurred, starting with the universe occurring. Then life. Then mind/consciousness.
Anyone who knows the science of water, knows the miracle of it, and LO! A planet unique to the observable universe. It's not the evidence, its the preponderance of evidence.
The proof I had when I came across was given, it's wasn't proof as it was revelation of truth. What is proof to an unbeliever? Their truth is subjective. When people ask me I say God revealed himself, because if they don't believe Moses and the prophets, the dead could rise in front of them and they still wouldn't believe.
How many friends do you have? Family? When you became a Christian the dead rose in front of them, they would have noticed a change, our testimony bears witness in itself.
It's an election because when were dead in our sins we can't see, by the grace of God is the only reason we can. All the proof in the world will not make them believe unless God has prepared their hearts first but also by planting seeds. At least that's in my experience 👍
