What Happened in Charlottesville? | 5 Minute Video
Did President Trump call neo-Nazis “very fine people” during a famous press conference following the Charlottesville riots of August 2017? The major media reported that he did. But what if their reporting is wrong? Worse, what if their reporting is wrong and they know it’s wrong? A straight exploration of the facts should reveal the truth. That’s what CNN political analyst Steve Cortes does in this critically important video.

Politicians lie.
We all know that.
That is not an indictment of all politicians—it’s simply part of the game.
It’s our job, as informed citizens, to figure out the truth. And that’s where journalists and the media come in. They are supposed to help us ferret out fact from fiction. So when they get a fact wrong, that’s bad.
When they get a fact wrong, know it’s wrong, and don’t correct it, that’s worse. That’s not getting a fact wrong; that’s a lie. And that’s journalistic malfeasance.
The best (or maybe worst) example of this followed a presidential press conference at Trump Tower on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.
You remember what happened that previous weekend: A group of white supremacists held a
“white pride” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. The ostensible reason was to protest the removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee.
An Antifa group showed up to counter-protest. The mayor and the police were totally unprepared to deal with the violence that ensued. Tragically, a young woman, Heather Heyer, was run over and killed by a neo-Nazi.
The press conference itself was raucous. The media was antagonistic. The president was combative.
Out of it all, one phrase eclipsed the thousands of words exchanged: The media reported that President Trump described neo-Nazis as “very fine people.”
Only, he didn’t. In fact, he didn’t even hint at it. Just the opposite: he condemned the neo-Nazis in no uncertain terms. So then, who were the “fine people” he mentioned?
The answer: He was referring to another group of Charlottesville demonstrators who came out that weekend—protestors who wanted the Robert E. Lee statue removed and protestors who wanted to keep the statue and restore the park’s original name.
This is what President Trump said about those peaceful protestors: “You also had some very fine people on both sides. . . . You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of—to them—a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name.”
A few moments later, in case there would be any misunderstanding, he makes his meaning even more explicit. “…I’m not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists. They should be condemned totally.”
Lest you have any doubts that good people were in Charlottesville to protest the removal of the
Robert E Lee statue, the New York Times confirmed it in a story they published the next day, August 16.
“’Good people can go to Charlottesville,’ said Michelle Piercy, a night shift worker at a Wichita, Kansas retirement home, who drove all night with a conservative group that opposed the planned removal of a statue of the Confederate general Robert E. Lee. After listening to Mr. Trump on Tuesday, she said it was as if he had channeled her and her friends… who had no interest in standing with Nazis or white supremacists…”

Excellent. It's amazing how many President Trump detractors don't even know and deny that his daughter and grandchildren are Jewish.
But the left wing hates Jews, too.
Great job on your part.
Trump was not calling any of the white supremacist good people. He was calling southerners who actually want to preserve our history good people. There's a difference in wanting to preserve a piece of history and then wanting to cause hate an choas. Unfortunately people are understand that. And the media does not care they are putting innocent people in their crossfires.
PragerU lies
This video is disinformation. It conflates Trump’s comments just after the rally with comments he made 3 days later. Just after the rally, Trump made a short statement condemning violence on both sides, and took no questions. The comments cited here are from a press conference days later, afterTrump had been widely condemned for the earlier comments, and several of his informal economic advisors resigned in protest, so that he had to say something against the alt-right. All of the media outlets cited emphasized in their coverage that, at this second conference, Trump differentiated between neo-Nazis and ‘fine people’ who were just protesting the removal of statues. There is not a single cited news source that claimed Trump called new-Nazis ‘very fine people’. Even this second news conference was problematic however, because Trump used the bizarre term ‘alt-left’, blamed both sides for violence, and seemed to draw a false equivalency between Confederate leaders and George Washington. So this is a case of Trump making widely condemned comments, then coming back days later to clean up the political damage (badly and combatively), the news media covering both events accurately, and Praeger U doing what they do best – misrepresenting the facts, the timeline, and providing no actual evidence for their claims
Now that Trump is openly peddling replacement theory and telling crowds of his white supporters that from Asia and Africa are “poisoning our blood” this video really hasn’t aged well. Lol.
Sure, Donald Trump took the bold and controversial position that Nazis are bad. Lol. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t massively lie. Donald Trump claimed there was some subset of people who attended a white supremacy rally, people who are not themselves racist, but we’re just there because of a statue. Trump says there were so many of these not-racist people participating in a white supremacy rally that he could see them in pictures. He said the media treated them badly. But he never identified even one of them. Not one of them ever came forward to go on Fox News or anywhere else to say “yeah I went to the white supremacy rally just because of a statue, but I’m not a white supremacist myself“
Donald Trump peddled a false equivalence, asserting that the two sides in the clash that occurred in Charlottesville were morally equivalent, equally composed of good and bad people. It was always a lie. There are no good or “fine” or virtuous or not-racist people who participate in a white supremacist rally. Donald Trump told the American people that in the clash between racism and antiracism the two sides are morally equivalent. And that is shameful.
This was a left-on-left attack, and they smeared Trump with a big lie! I tried to show a video of Trump condemning these leftists and he flew into a rage of denial! He even blamed Trump for the Democrat’s two-year shutdown to stop the spread of Covid as of that would work. He believes in their vaccine and mask lies. I realized that there is no getting through to a libtard mind.
Y'all do know PragerU is lying, right?
First Trump's statement was criticized by some members of his own party. In his second (corrected) statement, Trump condemned the KKK, white supremacists, neo-nazis… PragerU should use this as a FACT to do good journalism. What about his third statement at the Trump Tower? Now, don't hesitate to correct me if I am wrong.
absolute garbage
The rally was literally planned by neo-nazis.
Yeah i can see how this is biased, especially with insinuating both sides were equally bad when one was chanting black lives splatter
Anyway time to watch shauns response, and i should probably look up a video of what trump said since they didn’t play it here
Fongool …
The problem is that those ”peaceful” protesters were going around screaming ”jews will not replace us”.
wow! this sucks!
Here's a compilation of #Trump denouncing White Supremacist KKK Etc. the media ask him to, only to go back on air & lie to their audience saying he refused to do such https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ah1LBT4Hhq8&feature=share
I agree. However, I think it's important to note that if a media source gets something wrong, that doesn't automatically make them awful. I've seen people nowadays going too far the other way and saying that If you get something wrong you're awful, but I don't think that's fair.
CNN news contributor?
In the TYT debate Dennis said P U never made a video about Trump…
What am I commenting on Dennis ??

Interesting. Dennis Prager is Jewish, yet here he is lying by omission to support Neo Nazis. Doesn't say what happened at the first Trump press conference. That's some sick shit.
Trump said very fine people about the tiki torch protesters in his first press conference.
They are showing you clips from his second press conference

Mr. Cortes and Mr. Prager, I applaud you on being able to successfully profit on the gullibility and stupidity of your audience.
Unfortunately, YouTube channel Shaun has already debunked this propaganda nonsense you call a tutorial. So much so that Mr. Prager was reduced to a stuttering, stammering mess when responding to Shaun. Ad hominen was all Mr. Prager had for his (non) response.
Yet I still applaud your ability to fleece the rubes. Keep that cash rolling in boys!
This video is literally pro-Nazi propaganda. Shameful.
100% accurate video.
And that guy called "Shaun" didn't debunk anything. Knock it off, guys!
You are facking it
Ah, good times. Remember when PragerU hadn’t gone mask off insane?
Prager lied about the event as well as the media.
this is such bull. This video should be flagged. Lies throughout.
Do American Republicans self-identify more as 1865 slavery-defending Confederates that took up arms against their own families that were not on board with their radical bigotry, violence and greed (fear), or self-identify more as 1938 pre-genocidal Nazis, supporting Hitler in everything he did including and/or especially because of his radical bigotry, violence and greed, or self-identify more as Nixon corruption supporters?
It’s not a race war, it’s a (worldwide, unified) war against racists (and inequality in general)!
#theyvotedforaBigot #RepublicansAreNazis #BuildBridgesNotWalls #DeportMeToo #BanMeToo #BLM
Well at least the AP and PBS are "still safe" and "not lying" unless Prager U just overlooked them. Funny, no mention of FOX News or NewsMax. Sigh, tiresome.
I really appreciate that brief descriptor of PragerU Steve gave in the first 40 seconds
These are the people who were there to protest the taking down of the statue.

Who there in that group seems like a very fine person?
Edit: Here is a video describing how this PU video is lying to you

Okay am I the only one getting a boner from our courteous guest speaker, Steve Cortes? Or is it just me… So Dreamy!
Funny so loving a General who wanted blacks slaves are ok but Nazis are bad. Robert E Lee are Nazis to blacks
